West Alabama Holds on to Defeat Lady Bucs

LIVINGSTON, Ala. - West Alabama scored a pair of unanswered goals, in the first half, and held on for a 2-1 victory over the Christian Brothers University women's soccer team, on Friday evening at Tiger Stadium.    

FINAL SCORE:
UWA 2 (5-4, 4-2 GSC)
CBU 1 (6-4-1, 3-3-1 GSC)

HOW IT HAPPENED:
6' | CBU took an early lead when Cheyenne Smith scored on a long range shot, from just over 40 yards out, that beat the UWA goalkeeper. 
7' | The Tigers scored less than one minute later when Dana Cruz used some slick dribbling, before turning and firing a shot into the top left corner. 
29' | UWA scored what proved to be the game-winner when Cruz converted a penalty kick. 
HALF | CBU finished the first half with a 5-4 lead in shots. 
FINAL | The Lady Bucs managed three shots, in the final 11 minutes, but were unable to find an equalizer.   

KEY STATS | NOTEABLES
CBU finished with a 10-7 advantage in shots. Both team finished with five shots on goal.

The Lady Bucs are scheduled to return to action on Sunday, Oct. 1, when they travel to Alabama Huntsville. Kickoff is set for 1 PM.
