.CLEVELAND, Miss. - Delta State held off the Christian Brothers University women's basketball team to earn a 78-65 victory, on Saturday night, at Walter Sillers Coliseum.
The contest was the Gulf South Conference opener for both teams.

- DSU held the Lady Bucs to just 2-13 shooting, in the first quarter, to take a 17-8 lead.
- A layup by Destiny Kiner trimmed the deficit to 22-13.
- DSU used its own 21-11 spurt to take a 43-24 lead at the break.
- The Lady Statesmen shot 14-29 in the opening half, while CBU was 7-28.
- CBU cut the DSU lead to 52-41, with 2:28 left in the third, but the hosts scored eight straight to close out the quarter.
- The Lady Bucs closed out the game with a 14-7 run, while outscoring DSU 24-18 in the quarter, but saw their comeback effort fall short.
