MONTGOMERY, Ala. - The Christian Brothers University softball team dropped a pair of contests to 2023 GSC Preseason favorite Auburn Montgomery, on Saturday afternoon, at the AUM Softball Complex. The Warhawks took the opener 8-3 and finished the sweep with an 11-0 (5) win in game two.
GAME ONE: AUM 8 (5-5, 1-0 GSC) CBU 3 (3-4, 0-1 GSC)
GAME CHANGER:
After the Lady Bucs scored a pair to tie the game at two, in the third, AUM scored six of the next seven runs to win the game.
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE:
- The Lady Bucs were outhit 12-6.
- Savannah Crockett and Kiera Coulon led CBU with two hits apiece.
- A home run for Crockett was the lone extra base hit for CBU.
KEY PLAYS:
After AUM took a 2-0 lead into the third, an RBI single by Crockett and a sacrifice fly by
Elaina McGill evened the score at two.
The Warhawks responded with three runs in the third.
With AUM leading 8-2, in the sixth, Crockett hit a home run to finish the scoring.
NOTABLE:
- The home run for Crockett was the first of her collegiate career. Through eight games, the Medina, Tenn., is just one RBI away from tying her career-high.
