No. 10 Montevallo Uses Big Innings to Defeat Bucs

GAME CHANGER:
Montevallo scored seven runs in the fifth and added eight in the eighth. 

INSIDE THE BOX SCORE:
  • The Bucs were outhit 12-5
  • The Falcons had eight extra base hits, including six doubles.
  • 2022 Co-Gulf South Conference Player of the Year Sam Kuchinski finished 3-for-4 with a home run and five RBIs. 
  • Dalton Pyzer had a two-run home run that accounted for both CBU runs. 
  • Charlie Faoro had a double. 
  • Nick Stamper (2-for-4) was the lone CBU player with multiple hits. 
KEY PLAYS:
The game was scoreless after three innings, as the teams combined for just one hit.
Montevallo got its first run and hit in the fourth when Reed Latimer drove in Kuchinski after a walk. 
The Falcons sent 11 batters to the plate in the fifth, scoring seven runs on five hits. 
A pair of doubles that drove in five runs highlighted the inning. 
The Bucs scored their lone runs of the game in the bottom of the fifth when Pyzer smacked a two-run home run over the right-center field wall. 
After two scoreless innings, the Falcons ended the game with eight runs in the eighth. 
The visitors had two home runs in the inning. 

NOTABLES:
  • The home run for Pyzer was his third of the season. 
  • The double for Faoro was the first of his collegiate career.

The Bucs are scheduled to return to action on Sunday, Feb. 26, when they wrap up the series with Montevallo. The doubleheader is scheduled to begin at 11 AM.
