ARKADELPHIA, Ark. -
Emily Schooler threw a no-hitter, in her collegiate debut, and the Christian Brothers University softball team exploded for 12 runs in a 12-0 (5) win over Henderson State, on Friday afternoon, at Dee White Field.
The no-hitter is the first for a CBU pitcher since 2010 when Kaylea Brewer and Michelle McEachron threw a combined five inning no-hitter at Lambuth.
The Lady Bucs earned the win in their season opener before dropping the nightcap 6-3 to Ouachita Baptist
GAME ONE: CBU 12 (1-0) HSU 0 (0-1)
GAME CHANGER:
Schooler did not allow a hit, and struck out seven batters in five innings of work.
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE:
- The Lady Bucs finished with a 12-0 advantage in hits.
- CBU had four doubles in the contest.
- Savannah Crockett led CBU with three hits.
- In her first collegiate contest, Kate Candies finished 2-4 with two doubles and three RBIs.
- Elaina McGill was 2-3 with a double and an RBI.
- Ashlynn Smith was 1-2 with a pair of RBIs.
- Mackenzie Bakel finished 2-for-3 with a double and a pair of runs batted in.
KEY PLAYS:
CBU sent 10 batters to the plate, scoring four runs in the top of the first.
The Lady Bucs plated three runs in the second and third innings.
GAME TWO: OBU 6 (1-0) CBU 3 (1-1)
GAME CHANGER:
The Tigers scored three runs in the second inning and held on for the win.
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE:
- The Lady Bucs were outhit 9-6.
- Ashlynn Smith led CBU, going 2-3 with a triple and two RBIs.
- Savannah Crockett added a double for CBU.
- Three CBU pitchers combined to allow six runs on nine hits.
- OBU pitcher Tuesday Melton struck out six CBU batters.
KEY PLAYS:
An RBI double by Crockett gave CBU a 1-0 lead in the top of the first.
After leaving the bases loaded in the first OBU used an inside the park home run, with the bases loaded, to plate three runs in the second.
CBU pushed across one run in the fourth and sixth, but saw its comeback bid fall short.

The Lady Bucs are scheduled to return to action on Saturday, Feb. 4 when they face Northwestern Oklahoma at 10 AM and Arkansas Monticello at 2:30. The games are scheduled to be played at Majestic Park in Hot Springs, Ark.
