Fast Start Helps Bucs Past Bethel


FINAL SCORE: CBU 6 (10-14) | BU 1 (8-15) 

GAME CHANGER:
CBU scored five runs in the first three innings and held on for the win. 

INSIDE THE BOX SCORE:
  • CBU finished with an 8-5 advantage in hits. 
  • The Bucs took advantage of four Bethel errors. 
  • Charlie Faoro finished 3-3 with a double and two RBIs to lead CBU at the plate. 
  • Seth Brown was 1-4 with a double and an RBI. 
  • Relief pitcher Zach Sutton did not allow a run in seven innings of work. The freshman hurler allowed just three hits and struck out four. 
KEY PLAYS:
The Bucs got on the board in the first using a sac fly by Ben Brocato and a double by Faoro. 
Bethel scored its lone run of the contest, in the second, when it strung together a two-out double and an RBI single. 
CBU answered with three in the third, after an RBI by Nick Stamper, a run-scoring single by Justin Donovan and a bases loaded walk by Brown.
The Bucs finished the scoring in the eighth on a sac fly by Faoro. 
Sutton retired nine of the last 11 batters to finish the game.  

NOTABLES:
  • Faoro has recorded at least three hits in three different contests.
  • The win for Sutton is the first of his collegiate career.

The Bucs are scheduled to return to action on Wednesday, March 15 when they host LeMoyne-Owen. First pitch is scheduled for 1 PM.
