Bucs Make History with Doubleheader Sweep at Union

GAME ONE: CBU 2 (12-19, 3-13 GSC) | UU 0 (9-18, 5-11 GSC) 

GAME CHANGER: INSIDE THE BOX SCORE:
  • The Bucs won despite being outhit 6-3. 
  • Jarret Fowlkes, Matthew McDaniel and Shahkai Matthews had the hits for CBU. 
  • A double by McDaniel was the lone extra-base hit for the Bucs. 
  • Sleeper worked 5.2 innings and allowed just three hits, with eight strikeouts. 
  • Travis Cole allowed just three hits in 3.1 innings of relief to earn the save. 
KEY PLAYS:
The lone runs of the game came in the third inning, when Ben Brocato and Clay Facteau were hit by pitch with the bases loaded. 
Union left a runner on base in the seventh and eighth innings.  GAME TWO: CBU 11 (13-19, 4-13 GSC) | UU 0 (9-19, 5-12 GSC) 

GAME CHANGER: INSIDE THE BOX SCORE: KEY PLAYS:
A two-RBI single by Pyzer and an RBI line out by McDaniel gave the Bucs a 3-0 lead in the first. 
An RBI single by Fowlkes and a two-RBI double by Facteau extended the lead to 6-1 going into the bottom of the second. 
The Bulldogs scored six unanswered runs to take a 7-6 lead after four. 
CBU answered with a pair in the fifth to take an 8-7 lead. 
In the sixth, after the Bulldogs plated two more runs in the fifth, McDaniel launched a hard-hit ball to a diving shortstop that scored what proved to be the game-winning runs. 
Cole induced an inning ending double play in the sixth and retired the side in order to finish the game. 

UP NEXT:
The Bucs are scheduled to return to action on Sunday, March 26, when they look to finish the series sweep against Union. First pitch is scheduled for 2 PM.
