LIVINGSTON, Ala. - The Christian Brothers University softball team dropped a pair of contests to West Alabama, on Saturday afternoon, at the UWA Softball Complex.
The Tigers used a big inning to take the opener 9-3, and won game two 10-2 (6).
GAME ONE: UWA 9 (12-4, 6-1 GSC) CBU 3 (3-7, 0-4 GSC)
GAME CHANGER:
The Tigers took advantage of four CBU miscues, scoring six unearned runs.
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE:
- The Tigers finished with a narrow 5-4 advantage in hits.
- Ashlynn Smith (2-3) was the lone CBU player with multiple hits.
- Smith and Riley Simpson both finished with doubles.
- Four of the five UWA hits were for extra bases.
- UWA also took advantage of six walks.
KEY PLAYS:
UWA opened the scoring in the first, as it took advantage of a wild pitch.
In the sixth the Tigers sent 12 batters to the plate, scoring six runs on just two hits.
UWA took advantage of three walks, two errors and two hit by pitch in the inning.
CBU answered with a pair in the fifth, using an RBI double by Smith and an RBI single by
Josie Bond.
With the Lady Bucs back in the game, the hosts answered back with a pair in the bottom of the inning.
In the seventh, an RBI double from Simpson finished the scoring.
GAME TWO: UWA 10 (13-4, 7-1 GSC) CBU 2 (3-8, 0-5 GSC) (6)
GAME CHANGER:
Five of the 10 UWA runs came via the home run.

KEY PLAYS:
UWA scored a run in the first and added another in the second.
After the Tigers took a 5-0 lead into the fifth, Gross and McGill hit back-to-back home runs for CBU.
UWA hit a three-run home run in the fifth and a two-run homer in the sixth to finish the scoring.
