CBU Athletics Announces Class of 2023 Hall of Fame Inductees

MEMPHIS - Christian Brothers University Athletics has announced the six members of its Hall of Fame class of 2023. Former softball, women's soccer, pistol shooting, men's soccer and men's basketball student-athletes are represented in the class that is scheduled to be inducted on Saturday, April 29 at the Montesi Executive Center (Buckman Hall 211) on the CBU campus.

Former softball player Nikki Dunn, athletic administrator Susan Fuller, women's soccer/softball player Teresa Fuller, air pistol shooter Ronald Krelstein, men's soccer player Jimmy Walker and men's basketball standout Kevin Weybright are set to be honored.

Nominees become available for selection after a 10-year period following the candidate's graduation, or playing career. The inductees were chosen by the Hall of Fame Selection Committee to make up the 2023 class.

"I speak for all of Christian Brothers University when I congratulate all of our inductees," said Director of Athletics Donna Crone. "All six members of the class are most deserving of this honor, and are great representatives of CBU. After a long absence, we look forward to being together again."

Nikki Dunn (McNamara) starred in softball from 2006-09, where she was a four-time All-Gulf South Conference West Division selection for head coach Donna Crone. Dunn was the  2006 GSC West Freshman of the Year and the 2007 GSC West Co-Pitcher of the Year. The 2009 CBU graduate still holds CBU records in virtually every pitching category including wins (53), strikeouts (868), appearances (130), lowest ERA (2.26) and no-hitters (3).

Dunn also ranks third in GSC history in appearances, fourth in strikeouts and is tied for fourth in career-no hitters. The Southaven, Miss., native struck out 17 batters in a game three different times. That number is also tied for fourth in GSC single game history. Following her playing career, Dunn was named GSC West Second Team All-Decade.

Before passing away in 2018, Susan Fuller spent 16 years as the CBU Athletics Administrative Assistant. Her time at CBU spanned four athletic directors. Fuller was described by former Director of Athletics Brian Summers as "a beloved member of the CBU Athletics family," and as "the quiet engineer that kept the department's trains running on time."

Teresa Fuller (Waineo) was a two sport athlete, who played soccer and softball for the Lady Bucs. As a soccer player, Fuller was a four-year member of the team that claimed back-to-back GSC Championships (2000,2001) and the team that finished as the runner-up in the 2001 NCAA Tournament. Fuller was a two-time All-GSC selection (1999-2000) and was a 1999 GSC All-Tournament Team selection.

While a member of the soccer team, Fuller and the Lady Bucs finished with a record of 59-18-2. Fuller also starred on the softball diamond from 1999-2002, where she played 111 career games. Fuller finished her senior season with a career-high .272 batting average with 25 RBIs. Off the field, Fuller was a three-time GSC All-Academic Team recipient (2000, 2001, 2002 (SB). Following her senior season she was named to the prestigious GSC Top 10, an honor which is given to the top-five male/female student-athletes in the GSC.

Krelstein attended CBU from 1961-64, when he was a two-time winner of at the National Collegiate Pistol Championships. Krelstein, who earned the Distinguished Pistol Shot  badge in 1964, was also a First Team All-American in the same year. While a student, in 1963, Krelstein also became a member of the prestigious "2600 Club," and set three national records.

Jimmy Walker was a standout for the CBU men's soccer team from 1987-89, when he scored 55 goals in just 50 games. Walker ranks first in program history in points per game (2.9), assists per game (0.7), and shots per game (4.28). His 55 goals and 145 points are both fourth in program history. Walker was a member of the 1988 team that finished 16-5-1. The 16 wins are tied for most in program history.

Kevin Weybright was a four-year star on the hardwood for former CBU head coach Mike Nienaber. Weybright was a three-time First Team All-GSC West Division selection, as well as the 2004-05 GSC West Freshman of the Year. The Cincinnati, Ohio native was also a two-time All-Region selection.

While at CBU, Weybright helped guide the Bucs to their first  ever GSC championship and first NCAA Tournament berth. Weybright finished his career as the leading scorer in program history (1,972 points). His 1,972 points also rank ninth in GSC history. For his efforts, Weybright was named to the GSC West All-Decade Team.
