CLINTON, Miss. - The Christian Brothers University softball team dropped a pair of contests to No. 19 Mississippi College, on Friday evening, at the MC Softball Complex. The Choctaws took the opener 6-0 and finished the day with a 5-0 victory in game two.
GAME ONE: No. 19 MC
6 (31-7, 17-5 GSC) CBU 0 (10-27, 3-19 GSC)
GAME CHANGER:
MC starting pitcher Camryn Bailey held CBU to just four hits in the contest.
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE:
- The Lady Bucs were outhit 9-4.
- Four different CBU players recorded hits.
- CBU starting pitcher Olivia Renta went the distance, allowing six runs, on nine hits.
KEY PLAYS:
MC scored in each of the first three innings.
CBU had its best chance in the second when it had a pair of two out baserunners, but was unable to capitalize.
In the fifth, an RBI single extended the lead to 4-0.
A solo home run and an RBI single finished the scoring in the sixth.
GAME TWO: No. 19 MC
5 (32-7, 18-5 GSC) CBU 0 (10-28, 3-20 GSC)
GAME CHANGER:
MC pitcher Avery Barnett tossed a complete game, allowing just four hits with seven strikeouts.
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE:
- The Lady Bucs were outhit 7-4.
- Josie Bond led CBU with a pair of hits.
- MC took advantage of eight walks.
KEY PLAYS:
MC took a 1-0 lead with a bases loaded walk in the second.
Leading 2-0, in the fourth, MC extended the lead with an RBI single.
The Choctaws finished the scoring with a two-run home run in the sixth.
