SEARCY, Ark. - The Christian Brothers University softball team dropped a pair of close contests to No. 19 Harding University, on Tuesday evening, at the Harding Softball Complex. The Bisons took the opener 5-2 and finished the day with a 4-2 victory in game two.
GAME ONE: No. 19 HU 5 (36-11, 20-7 GAC) CBU 2 (10-30, 3-21GSC)
GAME CHANGER:
Harding scored what proved to be the winning runs when it plated three in the third.
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE:
- The Lady Bucs were outhit 9-5.
- Five different CBU players recorded hits.
- Kate Candies drove in both CBU runs with a two-run home run
KEY PLAYS:
The Lady Bucs took a 2-0 lead in the first on the home run by Candies.
Harding scored three in the third, using an RBI single before plating a pair following a CBU miscue.
The Bisons finished the scoring with two runs in the sixth.
GAME TWO: No. 19 HU 4 (37-11, 20-7 GAC) CBU 2 (10-31, 3-21GSC)
GAME CHANGER:
Harding jumped on top with four runs in the first, and held on for the win.
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE:
- Both teams had seven hits apiece.
- Harding took advantage of four CBU miscues.
- Josie Bond led CBU with a pair of hits and two RBIs.
- Emily Schooler went five innings in relief, allowing just three hits.
KEY PLAYS:
The Bisons took a 4-0 lead in the first, taking advantage of a pair of CBU miscues.
Bond got CBU on the board with an RBI single in the fifth.
After Bond drove in another run in the seventh, CBU had the tying run on base, but a strikeout ended the game.
