Lady Bucs Drop Pair at Teddie-Tiger Invitational

ARKADELPHIA, Ark. - The Christian Brothers University volleyball team dropped a pair of contests to open the Reddie-Tiger Invitational, on Friday, at the Duke Wells Center. CBU fell 3-0 to host Henderson State and came up short, 3-1, against Truman State. 

FINAL SCORE VS HSU:
HSU 3 (8-2), CBU 0 (1-8), (25-21, 25-17, 25-14)

WHAT HAPPENED:
After comitting six errors in the first set, the Reddies had just five in the remaining two sets.  

HOW IT HAPPENED:

  • CBU led the opening set 15-9, but the hosts scored seven of the next eight points to tie the score at 16. 
  • The Lady Bucs led 20-17 before HSU used an 8-1 run to win the set. The Reddies had seven kills to spark the run. 
  • HSU hit .379, comitting just two errors to win the second set 25-17. 
  • The Reddies opened up a 7-2 lead, but CBU clawed its way back to cut the score to 10-8. 
  • HSU allowed just six CBU points the rest of the way to earn the win.

WHAT HAPPENED:
After the Lady Bucs took the opening set, the Bulldogs had 38 kills and just 10 errors to help come back and earn the win. Truman also had 16 aces in the contest. 

HOW IT HAPPENED:

  • CBU scored eight of the first nine points and took advantage of 10 attack errors to win the set.  
  • Truman tied for a match-high with 13 kills to help tie the match at one set each. 
  • The Bulldogs had just two errors and used a 19-8 run to close out the set. 
  • The Lady Bucs took advantage of 10 UAM attack errors to win the third set and the match.
  • After CBU cut the Truman lead to 17-14 the Bulldogs closed the match with an 8-3 run.

The Lady Bucs are scheduled to return to action on Saturday, Sept. 16 when they close out the Reddie-Tiger Invitational against Ouachita Baptist. First serve is set for 10 AM.
