ARKADELPHIA, Ark. - The Christian Brothers University volleyball team fell 3-1, in a closely contested match, to Ouachita Baptist, on Saturday morning, at the Sturgis Physical Education Center. The match marked the final, of four, at the Reddie-Tiger Invitational.
FINAL SCORE VS HSU:
OBU 3 (4-8), CBU 1 (1-10), (25-20, 18-25, 29-27, 25-20)
WHAT HAPPENED:
After CBU tied the match at one, OBU squeaked out a 29-27 win in a marathon third set to take a 2-1 lead.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
- CBU led the opening set 10-5, but the hosts used an 8-3 run to tie the score at 13.
- An OBU attack error helped give the Lady Bucs a 20-19 lead, but the Tigers scored six straight points to win the set.
- CBU held the hosts to just eight kills, and a .069 hitting percentage, to tie the match at one.
- The Tigers had leads of 17-12 and 22-18, in the third, but the Lady Bucs responded to take a 23-22 lead.
- CBU had a set point, at 26-25, but the Tigers rebounded with four straight points to take a 2-1 lead.
- The fourth set was tied at 16 before the Tigers reeled off four straight points to help win the match.
