MONTGOMERY, Ala. – The Christian Brothers University volleyball team fell in three sets to Auburn Montgomery, on Friday night, at the AUM Athletics Complex.
CBU was led by
Maddi Rowley, who finished with eight kills and six digs.
FINAL SCORE:
AUM 3 (12-4, 2-2 GSC), CBU 0 (2-13, 1-3 GSC), (25-18, 25-14, 25-14)
WHAT HAPPENED:
The Lady Bucs had 17 kills in the match, but combined for 20 unforced errors.
Sarah Allyn Thornell and Rowley combined for 12 of the 17 kills.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
- After the first set was tied at two, the Warhawks went on to take a 18-7 lead, but CBU came surging back on a 10-5 run to make the score 23-17. AUM then scored two of the next three points to take the opening set.
- AUM never trailed in the second set, as it attacked at a .375 clip to take a 2-0 lead.
- CBU did not go away, as it jumped out to a 7-4 third set lead, capped off by back-to-back aces from Jordan Allen.
- AUM used a 15-2 run of its own to take a 19-9 lead, closing out the match with a 25-14 victory.
KEY STATS | NOTABLES:
- Tia Rizvi led CBU with 12 assists. This marks the fourth consecutive contest she has led CBU in helpers.
- Rizvi now has 607 career assists.
- With a block in tonight's match, Alma Solis has recorded at least one block in 12-of-15 matches. Her 28 blocks lead the Lady Bucs.
- With her eight kills, Rowley now has 305 for her career.
- Thornell led CBU with seven digs. This marks the first time in the last six matches that a CBU player has not had double-figure digs.
