No. 16 West Florida Defeats Lady Bucs

PENSACOLA, Fla. – The Christian Brothers University volleyball team dropped a 3-0 decision to No.16 West Florida, on Saturday afternoon, at the UWF Field House.  

FINAL SCORE:
UWF 3 (11-4, 5-0 GSC), CBU 0 (2-14, 1-4 GSC), (25-14, 25-16, 25-10)

WHAT HAPPENED:
The Lady Bucs were led by Addie Waggoner, who finished with six kills, swinging at a .286 clip. As a team the Lady Bucs accumulated 22 kills, 31 digs and three blocks.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
  • The Argonauts took a commanding first set lead, jumping out to a 9-1 advantage. CBU went on a 3-0 run during the middle of the set sparked by a block by Sarah Allyn Thornell and Jordan Allen.  
  • Allen's ace and Alma Solis's kill cut the lead to 23-13, before West Florida ended the set 25-14.  
  • The second set saw the Lady Bucs and UWF go back-and-forth, as a kill by Maddi Rowley cut West Florida's lead to 15-13. UWF then used a 10-3 run to take the set two win. 
  • In the third set, West Florida had 12 kills and just two errors in a 25-10 win. 
KEY STATS | NOTABLES:
  • This marks the fourth time this season that Waggoner has led the Lady Bucs in kills.
  • With a block in today's match, Solis has recorded at least one in 13-of-16 matches. Her 29 blocks lead the Lady Bucs.
  • Sofia Rathheim-Hilton led CBU in digs with 17, marking the eighth time this season that she has recorded double-digit digs.

The Lady Bucs return to Canale Arena on Friday, Oct. 6, as they take on Valdosta State for a Gulf South Conference contest. First serve is set for 6 PM CT.
