Lady Bucs Drop Hard-Fought Contest Against West Alabama

MEMPHIS -  The Christian Brothers University women's basketball team came up just short, as it dropped a 61-52 decision to West Alabama, on Monday night, at Canale Arena. 

The contest featured 17 lead changes and 7 ties.

HOW IT HAPPENED  

  • The Lady Bucs raced out to an 8-0 lead in the first minutes of the game. 

  • West Alabama was able to tie the game at 12 with 1:15 remaining. 

  • The Tigers finished the quarter on a 12-1 run to take a 16-13 lead. 

  • Chloe Crawford hit a jumper to give the lady Bucs the 17-16 lead with 8:15 left in the second quarter. 

  • A Tae Leatherwood driving layup put the hosts up 21-20 with 4:18 remaining. 

  • West Alabama hit a 3 pointer with under a second left, to give the Tigers a 27-25 lead going into half. 

  • In a back-and-forth third quarter, Tieriney Echols put the hosts ahead 40-36 with just under a minute remaining. 

  • Two West Alabama free throws at the end of the quarter cut the CBU lead to 42-40. 

  • A jumper by Kamille Clark gave the Tigers a 47-46 lead with 5:39 left in the fourth quarter. 

  • Destiny Kiner got the 50-49 lead back for the Lady Bucs with 2:37 remaining. 

  • West Alabama then went on a 12-2 run to end the game and secure the win.

  • There were 17 lead changes and 7 ties during the contest.  

  • Jeremia Montgomery led CBU with 14 points adding four rebounds, two blocks and two steals. 

  • Tae Letherwood had 13 points, three rebounds, and two steals. 

  • UWA shot 43 percent from three, while holding CBU to just 2-13.
