HOW IT HAPPENED
  • The Warhawks gained an 11-4 advantage early in the first set. CBU chipped away at the lead until finally taking it with a 6-1 run that gave the Bucs set-point at 24-23. Three-straight kills by Auburn-Montgomery ensued to hand the opening set over to AUM, 26-24.
  • The second set started out with the teams trading points. The Warhawks then pulled away with 10 unanswered points. They went on to win the second set, 25-19, and put Christian Brothers' backs against the wall.
  • The Bucs absolutely dominated in the third set. They went up 9-2 after scoring eight unanswered and scored another eight unanswered later on to create a 19-6 advantage. CBU racked up six kills, two service aces and three blocks during the two dominant stretches. Christian Brothers ended up winning the third set by a massive 25-10 margin.
  • The fourth set was a test of wills that ended up deadlocked at 19-all. The Bucs finished strong with a 6-1 run that gave them a 25-20 victory. Rizvi's kill sent the match to a decisive fifth set.
  • CBU kept the momentum going into the fifth set. A 7-1 surge led by Jackson with two kills and an ace gave Christian Brothers an 11-4 lead. A pair of service errors by the Warhawks delivered the last two points needed for the Bucs to win the fifth set, 15-8, and the match.
