Draw evades Christian Brothers in tussle with Delta State

MEMPHIS, Tenn. – Christian Brothers women's soccer (0-8-0, 0-4-0 GSC) was defeated by Delta State (2-2-4, 1-1-3 GSC) by a final score of 1-0 on Friday evening at Signaigo Field. The Lady Buccaneers played the Lady Statesmen level until the 71st minute when DSU found the game-winning goal.

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • CBU controlled the opening 15 minutes of the match. The Bucs shot three times, with two on target, while not allowing Delta State to take a single shot.
  • The next four shots of the first half were all taken by the Statesmen. One of those shots hit the woodwork and another one was saved by Kaylee Allen.
  • Shots were then traded by the opponents in the final 15 minutes of the opening half. Both sides recorded two shots in that span. Alice Legendahl's chance taken in the 44th minute required a save from the opposing keeper.
  • The best chance for CBU was taken by Clair Mueller in the 69th minute. Her shot needed a fingertip save to be kept from creeping under the crossbar.
  • Following a caution to the Bucs, Delta State was able to go ahead with a goal in the 71st minute.
  • Elisa Cruz almost equalized with a shot that went wide in the 84th minute.
