Fast Start Helps Alabama Huntsville Defeat Lady Bucs

HUNTSVILLE, Ala. –  Alabama Huntsville outscored the Christian Brothers University women's basketball team 19-12 in the first quarter of a 70-55 victory, on Saturday afternoon, at Spragins Hall.

HOW IT HAPPENED  
  • UAH shot 42 percent in the first quarter, including 7-12 from inside the three-point line to open up a 19-12 lead. 
  • The Chargers then hit six of its 11 shots and 8-9 from the free throw stripe to take a 40-30 lead into halftime. 
  • A three-pointer with 1:09 left in the quarter helped the Chargers take a 58-41 lead to the final period. 
  • Haven Cooper knocked down a three-pointer to get CBU to within 60-49, with 6:35 left but UAH scored 10 of the final 16 points to finish the game.

  • CBU finished the game with a season-low seven turnovers. 
  • The Lady Bucs forced 15 UAH miscues, converting them into 19 points.
