HUNTSVILLE, Ala. – No. 3 seed Alabama Huntsville outscored the No. 6 seeded Christian Brothers University men's basketball team 37-23 in the first half in an 81-64 win, in the opening round of the Gulf South Conference Tournament, on Tuesday night, at Spragins Hall.
The loss eliminated the Bucs for the postseason. CBU was competing in its first GSC Tournament since the 2018-19 season.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- The defenses set the tone early, as CBU led 3-1 until UAH hit its first basket 4:19 into the contest.
- An Isaac Chatman dunk put the Chargers up 16-14 at the midway point of the opening half.
- After a Christian Thompson layup got the Bucs to within 23-20 with 4:45 left until halftime.
- UAH then hit six of its next nine shots to go on a 14-3 run to close the half up 37-23.
- A Luke Burnett three-pointer put UAH up 48-28 with 16:23 left.
- CBU responded with 25-13 spurt that cut the deficit to 61-53 with 8:31 remaining.
- The Chargers then scored 10 straight to go up 71-53 with 5:11 left.
- CBU got back to within 73-61 with 2:59 remaining, but UAH scored eight of the next 10 points to finish the game.

- UAH finished 54 percent from the floor, including 25-39 from inside the three-point line.
- The Bucs were held to just 25-70 (36 percent).
- UAH won the rebounding battle 41-32, marking just the second time this season that the Bucs have been outrebounded.
