Men's and women's golf finish in top half at the Montevallo Invitational

CALERA, Ala. – The Christian Brothers University men's and women's golf teams competed in the Full Moon BBQ Invitational, hosted by Montevallo, at Timberline Golf Club this Monday and Tuesday. Both teams finished in fourth place out of eight teams.

The CBU men's team shot 23 over par while the women's team shot 37 over par. The men's team was particularly strong on Monday, shooting seven over par on the day. The Buccaneers were in third place after the first round, but were overtaken by Trevecca Nazarene in the second round of play. The Trojans shot five over par on Tuesday. Meanwhile, the Lady Buccaneers improved by a stroke in the second round and finished just two strokes behind third-placed Union (Tenn.) and only six strokes behind second-placed West Florida.

On the men's side, Christian Brothers' Nathan London and Alexian Rouault led the way by finishing in fourth and seventh place, respectively. Both Bucs shot two under par in the first round. London finished one over par while Rouault shot three over par through round two.

On the women's side, three Bucs tied for sixth place on the player leaderboard by shooting seven over par through two rounds. Carla Kay Hickham, Kazzia Fox and Cesilee Mokry were the three top 10 finishers for CBU. None of the Lady Buccaneers shot more than nine over par on either day of the tournament.

The Christian Brothers women's golf team will play at a tournament hosted by Lee on Sept. 16-17 next. The men's golf team will wait until Sept. 23-24 for their next tournament hosted by Delta State.
