CBU drops a match on the road at Eckerd

ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. – The Christian Brothers University women's soccer team (0-2-0) dropped a non-conference match on the road to Eckerd College (1-0-1) by a final score of 4-0 on Saturday afternoon. The Tritons were coming off a nil-nil draw versus nationally-ranked No. 12 Lee earlier in the week.

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • The Tritons peppered the goal in the first half with 11 shots, including six on target.
  • CBU goalkeeper Gemma Crowe saved 4-of-6 shots on goal in the face of a relentless EC attack.
  • Eckerd's Freija Aflenzer and Olivia Ozbolt scored in the seventh and 10th minutes, respectively.
  • Crowe and her defensive line did well to stay composed and keep the Tritons from scoring again after the two early goals in the opening 45 minutes.
  • The shot count in the second half was close to even with the Bucs taking six shots compared to Eckerd's seven shots.
  • Four of Christian Brothers' six shots occurred in a four-minute span early in the second half.
  • In the 48th minute, both Alexa Franklin and Ana Dutra nearly scored with shots that were denied by Eckerd's Cadence Talbert.
  • The Tritons adjusted to the attacking pressure by CBU early in the second half and were able to add two more goals to their tally later.
  • Jillian Doerger scored in the 65th minute before Kendall Drummond added a final goal in the 80th minute.
