PENSACOLA, Fl. – Christian Brothers University women's soccer found the back of the net in the second half but ultimately fell 6–1 to No. 3 West Florida on Sunday afternoon at the UWF Soccer Complex.
The Lady Buccaneers weathered early pressure from the undefeated Argonauts, with goalkeeper Maria Carrico making five first-half saves to keep CBU in striking distance. West Florida took a 3–0 lead into halftime behind goals from Rece Grant, Marianna Camacho Montufar, and Alexis Castle.
In the second half, Mackenzie Allen put CBU on the scoreboard in the 64th minute, finishing a setup from Lia Haggstrom off a corner kick to make it 6–1. The goal was Allen's second of the season and highlighted an improved attacking rhythm for the Lady Bucs, who generated six second-half shots and five corner kicks.
Goalkeeper Kaylee Allen entered late in the match and added two saves in relief, while Carrico finished with seven on the day.
Despite the result, CBU showed persistence throughout the match, creating more chances after the break and maintaining composure against one of the Gulf South Conference's top offenses.
The Lady Buccaneers return to action Friday when they travel to face Auburn Montgomery.
