Valdosta, Ga. – Christian Brothers University volleyball fell in straight sets (14–25, 26–28, 13–25) to Valdosta State on Thursday evening inside The Complex.
The Buccaneers (8–16, 3–10 GSC) battled through a tightly contested second set that featured 18 ties, but the Blazers (9–12, 8–4 GSC) capitalized late to secure the sweep.
Ella Schumacher led the Buccaneers with 11 kills, while Addison Waggoner added six kills and nine digs. Setter Carleiny Morillo finished with 10 assists and one ace, and libero Sophia Nowacki anchored the defense with 14 digs.
Christian Brothers put together its best run in the second frame, using timely kills from Waggoner, Schumacher, and Oluwaseun Osayemi to push Valdosta State to extra points before falling 28–26.
Valdosta State's Asia Montagnani led all players with 13 kills on .455 hitting, while Sabrina Oncins and Ava Young combined for 16 kills.
The Buccaneers return home for a Gulf South Conference matchup this weekend, looking to rebound as the regular season winds down.
