PENSACOLA, Fla. – Christian Brothers volleyball showed moments of strong play Friday evening but fell in straight sets (21–25, 14–25, 22–25) to Gulf South Conference leader West Florida inside the UWF Field House.
The Lady Buccaneers (8–17, 3–11 GSC) came out swinging in the opening set, trading points early with the Argonauts before West Florida (18–3, 11–0 GSC) used a late surge to edge ahead 25–21.
Ella Schumacher led the CBU offense with 11 kills, while Calah Jackson added 7 and Addison Waggoner chipped in 6. Setters Carleiny Morillo and Ava Hillyer combined for 31 assists, helping CBU hit .129 for the match. Defensively, Sophia Nowacki anchored the back row with 20 digs, and Sarah Helms contributed three blocks at the net.
Despite the loss, the Buccaneers showed determination in the third set, battling back from multiple deficits and pulling within three late at 22–19 before West Florida closed out the match.
Christian Brothers will continue its Gulf South Conference road trip on Saturday, facing Valdosta State at 2 p.m. as they look to rebound and finish the weekend strong.
