Christian Brothers University women's basketball ushered in a new era on Saturday as first-year head coach Samantha Davidson secured her first win at the helm, leading the Lady Bucs to their first overall victory since February 24, 2025. The milestone also snapped a long drought on the road, marking CBU's first away win since January 13, 2023, a testament to the renewed energy and direction Davidson is bringing to the program.
The Lady Bucs relied on disciplined defense and a balanced team effort to claim the breakthrough victory. Davidson, who is in her debut season at CBU, emphasized how proud she was of her team's commitment on both ends of the floor.
"We had a strong defensive showing, holding them to under 50 points on the day," Davidson said. "Offensively, we're still trying to find a rhythm, but we had a few players show up in big ways. Maria Braga gave us scoring, and Darling Harris gave us rebounding off the bench. Alice Conrad does all the intangibles that give us energy on the floor. A lot of players contributed to the win."
The victory signals both progress and promise for a team embracing a new system, new leadership, and a new standard. Davidson credited the early road success as an important step in shaping the group's identity.
"It was good for us to get a road win early," she added. "We're still pushing to get better each game and look forward to seeing our team peak later as we build more on-court chemistry. Winning and staying humble by it."
With the program's first victory in nearly nine months now behind them, and a significant road streak snapped, the Lady Bucs are officially moving forward with momentum, confidence, and a refreshed sense of purpose under Coach Davidson's guidance.
