Buccaneers Fall Short in Second Half Comeback

Memphis, TN. – November 9, 2025 — The Christian Brothers University men's soccer team fell 2–1 to Alabama-Huntsville on Saturday afternoon at Signaigo Field, despite an early lead and a strong defensive showing in the first half.

CBU opened the scoring in the 36th minute when Olivier van der Tuin found the back of the net off an assist from Alexander Blanche, giving the Buccaneers a 1–0 advantage heading into halftime. The goal marked van der Tuin's fifth of the season and energized the home crowd of over 250 fans.

However, UAH responded quickly after the break. Just over a minute into the second half, UAH converted a penalty kick to level the score at 1–1. UAH later struck again in the 67th minute, to push the Chargers ahead 2–1.

Despite late pushes from the Buccaneers, including several close chances and corner opportunities, CBU couldn't find the equalizer. Goalkeeper Sebastian Torka made one key save in the second half, but the Buccaneers' offense was ultimately unable to break through UAH's disciplined defense.

The match was a physical one, with six yellow cards issued — four to CBU and two to UAH — as both teams fought hard in the midfield.

UAH – Orzechowski (Penalty Kick) – 46:12
UAH – Orzechowski (Assist: Seifert) – 66:36
