Jackson, TN- Christian Brothers faced a challenging road test Saturday afternoon at Fred DeLay Gymnasium, squaring off against a deep and energetic Union (TN) squad in Gulf South Conference play. Despite the final score favoring the Bulldogs, the Bucs continued to compete throughout the afternoon and showed flashes of toughness and resilience against a fast-paced opponent.
Union set the tone early, using defensive pressure and transition opportunities to build momentum in the opening quarter. Christian Brothers worked to settle in, finding success inside behind Donee' Frazier, who provided a steady presence in the paint. The Bucs continued to battle through the second quarter, sharing the ball and generating quality looks while working to slow Union's tempo.
Coming out of halftime, Christian Brothers delivered one of its strongest stretches of the game. The Bucs outscored Union in the third quarter, leaning on improved ball movement and interior scoring to keep pressure on the Bulldogs. Frazier led the way offensively, finishing with a team-high 14 points and eight rebounds, while Anastasija Cernova and Mya Bourget added timely buckets to keep the Bucs engaged.
Union's depth and defensive pressure proved decisive down the stretch, as the Bulldogs were able to string together stops and convert them into points late in the game. Even so, Christian Brothers continued to compete until the final horn, getting contributions across the lineup and using the contest as another step forward against a strong conference opponent.
The Bucs will look to build on the positive stretches from the third quarter and the production in the paint as they continue GSC play, carrying lessons from a tough road environment into their next matchup.
