Clinton, MS- Christian Brothers University hit the road Thursday night and showed plenty of resilience, battling through early adversity and putting together a strong second half before ultimately falling 84–76 to Mississippi College. The Bucs may not have come away with the win, but they walked out of Clinton with real signs of growth, especially on the offensive end.
CBU found early rhythm from multiple contributors and refused to let the game get away from them, even when Mississippi College built separation in the first half. The Bucs kept attacking the paint and used bench production to stay within striking distance. After halftime, the offense came alive, pouring in 48 second-half points, one of the team's most efficient stretches of the season.
Daniel Lans continued to be a steadying presence, scoring 17 points with seven rebounds while consistently finding ways to create offense when the team needed it most. Marquis Gill added 16 points and handled a heavy workload in the backcourt, while Archer McMenamin delivered one of the night's most impressive efforts: 14 points and seven boards on 6-of-7 shooting.
The Bucs' depth also kept them competitive, with the bench putting up 43 points, highlighted by Turner Duncan's 8 points on timely threes and Bennett Briles' physical minutes inside.
Defensively, CBU had stretches of real toughness, forcing turnovers, finishing plays on the glass, and turning stops into run-outs. Even in moments where Mississippi College built momentum, the Bucs responded with poise, piecing together runs of their own to stay in the fight until the closing minutes.
Though the result wasn't what they wanted, CBU showed character, effort, and improvement, especially in their execution after halftime. With conference play just beginning, the Bucs proved they've got the pieces and fight to keep building as the season moves forward.
