CBU suffers series sweep by West Florida

Christian Brothers Falls to West Florida After Early Lead

PENSACOLA, Fla. – Christian Brothers jumped out to an early lead but could not contain West Florida's offense, falling 12-2 on Saturday afternoon at Jim Spooner Field.

The Buccaneers got on the board in the first inning with two runs, but the Argonauts responded with a six-run fifth inning that broke the game open. West Florida added four more in the sixth and two in the seventh to secure the victory.

Christian Brothers collected eight hits in the game, including a pair of doubles from shortstop Sam Walker. Jalen Smith added an RBI single, and Andrew Reed drove in a run. However, the Bucs were unable to generate consistent offense after the first frame.

On the mound, starter AJ Gamboa allowed four runs before being relieved. The Christian Brothers pitching staff struggled with control, issuing six walks and hitting six batters.

West Florida's offense capitalized on its opportunities, with Brett Rowell leading the way, going 3-for-4 with a home run and four RBIs. Pitcher Dalton Neuschwander held Christian Brothers to two runs over six innings while striking out 10.

Christian Brothers Shut Out by West Florida in Game Two

PENSACOLA, Fla. – Christian Brothers struggled to generate offense, falling 8-0 to West Florida on Saturday afternoon at Jim Spooner Field.

The Buccaneers managed just one hit in the seven-inning contest as West Florida's pitching staff dominated from start to finish. Christian Brothers also committed one error while leaving three runners on base.

West Florida steadily built its lead, scoring in five of the seven innings, including a three-run seventh to seal the victory. The Argonauts tallied 13 hits, with Tanner Taylor leading the way, going 2-for-3 with a triple and an RBI.

On the mound, Christian Brothers starter Cameron Olivo allowed five runs on nine hits over five innings, striking out one. The bullpen surrendered three more runs in relief.

West Florida's pitching trio, led by Colton Dorsey, held the Bucs hitless outside of a Logan Croley single in the third inning. Dorsey picked up the win after tossing 4.1 scoreless innings, allowing just the one hit and striking out one.

Christian Brothers Falls to West Florida Despite Late Rally

PENSACOLA, Fla. – Christian Brothers was held scoreless for six innings before pushing across two late runs, but it wasn't enough to overcome a dominant performance by West Florida in a 13-2 loss on Sunday at Jim Spooner Field.

The Buccaneers (5-8, 1-5 GSC) struggled to find an answer to the Argonauts' (7-6, 4-2 GSC) offensive onslaught, as West Florida tallied 13 runs on 17 hits, including a six-run second inning that set the tone early. Christian Brothers managed just three hits in comparison.

Christian Brothers finally broke through in the seventh when Patrick Mangels singled through the left side to drive in a run. Tate Gentleman worked a bases-loaded walk to bring home a second run, but the late effort fell short.

On the mound, starter Charlie Faoro (0-1) took the loss, allowing seven runs in two and two-thirds innings. The Buccaneers' bullpen struggled to contain West Florida's lineup, surrendering eight more hits and six runs in relief. Weber Denman was effective at the end of the game. He tossed the last two innings and did not allow a West Florida baserunner.

West Florida's Cade Easterbrook led the way offensively, going 3-for-3 with three RBIs and two walks, while Jadon Fryman also contributed a three-hit, three-RBI performance.
