Christian Brothers Struggles in Series Against West Alabama

Livingston, AL – The Christian Brothers University softball team faced a tough weekend on the road, dropping all three games in their Gulf South Conference series against West Alabama at the UWA Softball Complex. The Lady Bucs struggled to generate offense, scoring only two runs across the series, while the Tigers took control with dominant pitching and timely hitting.

Game 1: Christian Brothers Falls 8-0

In the series opener on Friday, the Lady Bucs (6-10) struggled against West Alabama's Madison Wright, who tossed a complete-game shutout in an 8-0, five-inning victory. CBU managed just two hits, with Kiera Coulon and Haylee Alberson recording singles. The Tigers jumped ahead early with a two-run homer from Marissa Mitchell in the first inning and never looked back. Alberson (0-1) took the loss for CBU, allowing six earned runs on eight hits over 4.1 innings.

Game 2: CBU Shows Fight But Falls 10-2

Christian Brothers showed resilience in the second game of the series on Saturday but ultimately fell 10-2. The Lady Bucs broke through in the third inning with an RBI double from Riley Simpson, followed by a sacrifice fly from Abigail Garrison. However, West Alabama responded with a four-run third inning and added six more runs in the later innings to put the game out of reach. Emily Schooler (1-5) took the loss, surrendering 10 runs (eight earned) on eight hits in 4.1 innings.

Game 3: Lady Bucs Shut Out in Series Finale

In the final game of the series, Christian Brothers once again struggled at the plate, falling 9-0 in five innings. The Lady Bucs were held to just two hits, with Riley Simpson and Kylie Burks recording singles. West Alabama took control early, scoring five runs in the second inning, including a three-run homer. Victoria Watts (0-2) started for CBU, allowing five earned runs on eight hits over four innings.

Looking Ahead

After a tough road series, Christian Brothers (6-12) will look to regroup as they return home for their next seven games. Harding University visits Tuesday before Delta State comes to town for a three-game series, then the Lady Bucs host Bethel University in a doubleheader in hopes of turning things around to get back into the win column.
