Despite solid pitching from
Lawson Ryan and Charlie Faero, CBU was unable to secure a victory in a three game weekend set against #13 Delta State at The Nate in Memphis. CBU led in two of the three games, but Delta State came from behind in both of them.
GAME 1
Delta State scored four runs in the first inning and that lead held up and CBU came up short, 6-1.
Lawson Ryan came on in relief in the first inning and pitched six strong innings allowing just two runs while striking out five. It was Ryan's best performance of the season.
Seth Brown and
Dylan Bowers each pitched an inning of scoreless relief.
Cory Steinhauer had the Bucs only extra base hit with a double.
Jalen Smith banged two hits for CBU.
GAME 2
CBU jumped out to a 2-0 lead after two innings scoring a run in the first and one in the second.
Cory Steinhauer and
Andrew Reed drove in the runs for the Bucs. After tying the game 2-2 in the fourth inning, Delta State exploded scoring 12 more times to win the game, 14-2.

Andrew Reed doubled for Christian Brothers.
GAME 3
CBU again had the lead, 2-1, heading into the sixth inning of a seven inning game. Delta State tied it in the sixth and then pushed across three runs in the top of the seventh to win, 5-2. Charlie Faero pitched six and two-thirds strong innings for the Bucs striking out six and allowing only five hits.
