Christian Brothers picked up a non-conference road win Tuesday defeating Ouachita Baptist, 10-8, in Hot Springs, Ark. The win was the 15
th of the season for the Bucs which equals their win total from a year ago with nine games left to play.
CBU scored four runs in the top half of the first inning.Â
Jackson Licata doubled, moved to third on a wild pitch and then scored on another wild pitch.Â
Cory Steinhauer then doubled followed by a wild pitch and a
Jalen Smith walk.Â
Seth Brown singled to center to score Steinhauer and
Gabe Walker doubled to score Smith.
After giving up three runs in the bottom of the first, CBU padded its lead with two runs in the third.Â
Jalen Smith and
Seth Brown smashed back-to-back homers.
After Ouachita Baptist tied it in the bottom of the third inning, CBU roared back with four runs in the top of the fourth. Licata singled and scored on a Smith base hit.Â
Gabe Walker walked and then
Logan Croley doubled scoring Smith and Walker. The Bucs picked up their final run of the inning on an RBI hit by
Cayden Freels.
CBU allowed two more runs, but with the bases loaded in the bottom of the ninth,
Dylan Bowers got a line out to second for the third and final out.
Lawson Ryan (2-2) was the winning pitcher and
Dylan Bowers picked up his second save.Â
Xavier Caldwell, A.J. Gamboa and
Brady Moffitt combined for 4.2 innings of scoreless relief for the Bucs.
