Welcome New Assistant Director of Athletics for Communications

MEMPHIS, Tenn. - Interim Director of Athletics has announced the hiring of DeMarquis Howell as Christian Brothers University's new Assistant Director of Athletics for Communications.

"We're pleased to welcome Mr. Howell to the Christian Brothers University family," Jackson said. "His diverse background in communications, coaching, and athletic administration brings a fresh perspective to our department. I'm confident his passion for student-athlete success will have an impact on our programs and community."

Howell, a native of New Bern, North Carolina, comes to CBU from Pitt County Schools in North Carolina, where he served as a physical education teacher, athletics director and coach. He created the first co-ed soccer team and E-Sports teams at S.W. Snowden Elementary School. He also worked as a marketing associate for MC 3 Sports and Entertainment, which worked with the CIAA and Big South Tournaments. Prior to returning to education in 2020 and his home state in 2019, Howell was an operations and sports information graduate assistant director at Alabama A&M University while completing his Master's of Science in Kinesiology.

In addition to his professional experience, Howell was a decorated student-athlete. Playing three sports as a child, he went on to become a standout in football, basketball and track New Bern High School, helping win the 2007 football state. He continued his student-athlete career in football and track at Livingstone College in Salisbury, N.C., where he earned a Bachelor of Arts in Sports Management.
