Buccaneers Bounce Back with Strong Road Win Over Saint Leo

Memphis, TN- After a tough 3–0 setback at Florida Southern on Friday, Christian Brothers men's soccer showed their resilience in a big way, securing a convincing 2–0 victory over Saint Leo on Sunday.

The Buccaneers (3–1–0) leaned on a balanced attack and a suffocating defensive effort to earn their third win of the season. CBU struck early, finding the net in the first half before sealing the game with a second tally after the break.

Key Performers:

  • Juan Minguez Malonda provided the breakthrough, scoring the game-winning goal in the first half to set the tone.

  • Asaki Nakamura added insurance with a clinical finish in the second period, his first goal of the season.

  • Roberto Lagoa and Alessio Anichini each recorded assists, highlighting the Bucs' unselfish play in the attacking third.

Defensively, CBU was dominant, limiting Saint Leo to just five total shots and only one on goal. Goalkeeper Sebastian Torka made a key save in the second half and commanded his backline throughout the 90 minutes.

The win also showcased the Buccaneers' depth, with contributions across the roster. Midfielders Olaf Kramer and Joe Vokins controlled possession, while defenders Matthias Ran De Berg and AJ Agbede anchored a backline that never let Saint Leo settle into rhythm.

On Friday, despite the loss to Florida Southern, the Bucs still showed bright spots. Forward Alexander Blanche was relentless, firing six shots (four on goal) and creating chances throughout the contest. Goalkeeper Sebastian Torka kept CBU in the match with six saves, including four in the first half.
