MEMPHIS, TN. – In front of a lively home crowd at Signaigo Field, the Christian Brothers Buccaneers went toe-to-toe with Gulf South Conference foe Mississippi College, earning a hard-fought 4–4 draw on Saturday night.
CBU showed offensive firepower all evening, outshooting the Choctaws 18–15 and putting 13 shots on target. The Buccaneers never backed down, responding to each Mississippi push with goals of their own to keep the game level until the final whistle.
Sophomore Joe Vokins opened the scoring for CBU in the 30th minute, finishing off a pass from Juan Minguez Malonda to equalize after an early Mississippi strike. Just after halftime, Will Allen put the Buccaneers ahead 2–1 with a composed finish inside the box.
Minguez continued his standout night, netting a brilliant goal in the 68th minute before adding a clutch equalizer in the 89th, assisted by Olivier van der Tuin, sending the CBU supporters into celebration. Minguez finished with two goals and one assist to headline the Buccaneers' attack.
Other key contributions came from Vokins, who notched both a goal and an assist, and Allen, who found the net with his second goal of the season.
Defensively, goalkeeper Sebastian Torka registered three saves while battling through Mississippi's counterattacks.
The draw moves Christian Brothers to 4-1-1 overall and 1-0-1 in GSC play, extending their unbeaten run at home.
CBU will look to carry this momentum into their next conference matchup as they continue climbing the GSC standings.
