Fast Start, Late Surge: Lee Pulls Away from CBU, 82–72

Cleveland, TN- Christian Brothers delivered one of its sharpest offensive halves of the season, but Lee's efficiency after the break proved decisive in an 82–72 setback Saturday afternoon at Walker Arena.

CBU controlled much of the opening half behind balanced scoring and confident perimeter shooting. The Buccaneers hit 6-of-9 from three-point range in the first 20 minutes and shot 55.2 percent overall, taking a 38–37 lead into halftime after a back-and-forth opening period that featured eight lead changes.

Marquis Gill set the tone early and never let up. Playing the full 40 minutes, Gill finished with a game-high 23 points on 10-of-19 shooting, adding five rebounds and three assists. Caleb Gaitor chipped in 11 points with five assists, while Iman Kheirati added 14 points and six rebounds, giving CBU consistent production across the floor.

The momentum shifted in the second half as Lee found another gear offensively. The Flames shot 69.2 percent after halftime and knocked down 7-of-10 three-pointers, stretching a tight game into a double-digit margin midway through the period. A 15–0 swing turned a two-point contest into Lee's largest lead of the night.

CBU continued to battle, getting 12 points from Turner Duncan and nine points from Jabari Phillip Jr., who also knocked down all four of his free throws. The Buccaneers won the second-chance battle 16–9 and matched Lee from the perimeter for the game, each shooting 47 percent from three, but the Flames' efficiency in the paint and transition made the difference late.

Despite the final score, the numbers reflected CBU's competitiveness for most of the afternoon. The Buccaneers led for more than 17 minutes, shot 46.8 percent from the field, and stayed within striking distance until Lee's late surge sealed the outcome.
