First-Half Goals Prove Costly as CBU Women's Soccer Falls 2-0 at UAH

HUNTSVILLE, Ala. – The Christian Brothers University women's soccer team continued to struggle offensively Sunday afternoon, falling 2-0 to the University of Alabama in Huntsville in Gulf South Conference action at Wicks Family Field at Joe Davis Stadium.

The loss dropped the Lady Buccaneers to 1-9-2 overall and 0-6-2 in conference play, as CBU remains in search of its first GSC victory of the season.

UAH controlled much of the offensive action, outshooting Christian Brothers 14-7, including a 7-3 advantage in shots on goal. The Chargers capitalized on their opportunities in the first half, scoring twice before halftime.

Chelsey Curtis opened the scoring in the 29th minute off an assist from Prescott Hull. Caila Batchelor doubled the advantage in the 42nd minute, putting the Chargers ahead 2-0 heading into the break.

For Christian Brothers, generating consistent scoring opportunities remained a problem. The Lady Bucs managed just three shots in the opening half and four in the second, failing to find the back of the net despite putting three attempts on target.

Ella Morton provided the strongest offensive effort for CBU, recording a team-high three shots, including two on goal. Cristal Tellez added another shot on target, while Ellen Gaudry, Ellie Carico and Ava Reotutar each registered one attempt.

Defensively, goalkeeper Kaylee Allen finished with five saves in 90 minutes of action. Allen faced seven shots on goal and helped keep the Chargers scoreless throughout the second half despite continued pressure.

While CBU prevented UAH from adding to its lead after halftime, the Lady Bucs were unable to produce the offensive response needed to get back into the contest.

Under head coach Christopher Tadley, CBU continues to work toward building a more competitive and consistent team.

The Lady Bucs will look to regroup and respond as they continue Gulf South Conference play.
