Bucs Dominate Second-Half Shot Count but Fall 2-0 to Lee

MEMPHIS, TN- Despite a strong second-half offensive effort, the Christian Brothers University men's soccer team fell 2-0 to Lee University on Saturday afternoon at Signaigo Field in Gulf South Conference action.

The Buccaneers outshot the Flames 13-9 overall, including an impressive 11-3 advantage in the second half, but were unable to find the back of the net.

Lee opened the scoring in the 35th minute when Michael Oberbeck converted an opportunity off an assist from Marcos Garcia, giving the Flames a 1-0 halftime lead.

Trailing by one, Christian Brothers increased its offensive pressure after the break, generating 11 shots in search of an equalizer.

Lauri Orava led the Buccaneers with three shots, while Chase Duvernay and AJ Bowman contributed two attempts apiece. The Bucs placed four shots on goal, but Lee goalkeeper Charles Carriglitto turned away all four attempts.

Despite CBU's second-half advantage in shots, Lee extended its lead in the 77th minute when Andreas Aspris scored an unassisted goal to make it 2-0.

Christian Brothers goalkeeper Noah Djebali finished with three saves in 90 minutes of action.

The loss moved CBU to 4-6-5 overall and 2-3-5 in Gulf South Conference play. Lee improved to 7-4-4 overall and 4-3-2 in league competition.

Although the result did not go in their favor, the Buccaneers' second-half offensive production highlighted their ability to create scoring opportunities.
