Box Score 3 Game 1: CBU vs. Truman State
CBU battled hard but fell 5-0 to Truman.
Truman scored once in the first inning and added four runs in the fifth. Some of those runs came after defensive miscues, but CBU continued to compete.
Katelyn Harmon and Dakota Davis recorded hits for CBU. The team stayed aggressive at the plate and worked to create opportunities.
Even in the loss, CBU pitchers limited further damage after the fifth inning, keeping the game from getting out of hand.
Game 2: CBU vs. Southwest Baptist
Christian Brothers University opened the tournament with a strong 3-2 win over Southwest Baptist.
CBU scored in the first inning when Kate Candies singled to bring in Ashley Williamson.
They added another run in the second after Katelyn Harmon singled home Abby Drabek. Southwest Baptist tied the game with one run in the fifth and one in the sixth
CBU answered in the eighth with the go-ahead run.
Emily Schooler pitched a complete game, allowing only five hits and two runs while striking out six.
CBU finished with 10 hits and played steady defense to secure the win.
Game 3: CBU vs. Pittsburg State
CBU faced a tough Pittsburg State team and lost 8-0.
Pittsburg State scored early and added four runs in the second inning. CBU kept fighting, but Pittsburg State controlled the game from the start.
McKenzie Shinabery and Marin Beeson recorded the team's two hits. The defense made several routine plays to limit further scoring chances.
Although the result was not what they wanted, CBU continued to compete each inning. The team showed resilience against strong opponents and gained valuable experience for the rest of the season.
Game 4: CBU vs. Maryville
CBU lost to Maryville to round up Branson Tournament. CBU looks to get back in the winning column next Friday as they prepare for the University of West Florida. The first game is scheduled for the 20th @1:oo pm.
