Game One: CBU Opens Season With Big Win
Christian Brothers University opened the 2026 season with an impressive 11–2 victory over Henderson State, earning its first win of the year in convincing fashion.
CBU's offense came alive early and stayed consistent, scoring in six different innings and collecting 12 hits. Mackenzie Gieseler led the way with a three-hit performance that included a home run and three RBIs, while Marin Beeson added a two-run homer of her own. Kate Candies, Mandie Barrow, and Dakota Davis all contributed key hits as the Lady Bucs applied pressure throughout the lineup.
In the circle, Emily Schooler delivered a complete-game performance, allowing just two runs while striking out six. Her steady outing helped CBU pull away early and set the tone for a strong season opener.
Game Two: Lady Bucs Show Positives and Growth
In the second game of the doubleheader, CBU continued to compete and showed encouraging signs despite the final score.
Katelyn Harmon and Abby Drabek each recorded hits, while Mandie Barrow and Dakota Davis reached base via walks to help extend innings. Ashley Williamson added pressure on the bases with a stolen base, continuing her aggressive style of play.
Defensively, the Lady Bucs turned a double play and continued to battle in the circle with Lily Hurley and Vivian Watts combining to pitch the game. The contest provided valuable early-season experience as CBU continues to build momentum moving forward.
