Late Walk-Off Sinks Bucs in Extra-Inning Battle

Monticello, Ark- Christian Brothers fought through 11 innings but came up just short in a 4–3 loss to Arkansas-Monticello on the road.

The Buccaneers jumped out early in the first inning. Shahkai Matthews set the tone, reaching base and later scoring on a Mikey Rodriquez double to left-center. Moments later, Ivan Zambrano added to the lead with an RBI single, giving CBU a 2–0 advantage.

Arkansas-Monticello answered in the bottom of the first with a bases-loaded walk to cut the deficit to 2–1, then evened things up in the fourth inning on an RBI double by Camden Tanner.

From there, both teams settled into a pitching duel. CBU used a deep bullpen, with nine pitchers combining to hold Monticello in check through the middle innings. Jackson Allred delivered a strong two-inning stretch, allowing just one hit and no runs to keep the game tied late.

The deadlock carried into extra innings, where the Bucs briefly regained control in the 10th. Rodriquez came through again, delivering his second RBI double of the game to score Matthews and give CBU a 3–2 lead.

However, the advantage was short-lived. Monticello responded in the bottom half of the inning with a game-tying RBI groundout. In the 11th, a bases-loaded single from Kyle Tolley brought home the winning run, sealing the 4–3 decision.

Rodriquez led the way offensively, going 3-for-4 with two doubles and two RBIs. Zambrano added two hits and an RBI, while Matthews reached base four times and scored twice.

Despite outhitting CBU 10–8, Arkansas-Monticello capitalized on key opportunities late, handing the Buccaneers a tough extra-inning loss.
