Memphis, TN- Christian Brothers battled through a three-game series against Trevecca Nazarene on March 27, showing fight but ultimately falling in two of the three contests.
Game 1: Trevecca Nazarene 3, Christian Brothers 0
Trevecca Nazarene used a three-run second inning to secure a 3-0 win in the opening game.
The Trojans capitalized on defensive miscues, scoring all three runs unearned. A sacrifice fly from Sarah Kinderdine opened the scoring, followed by a two-run home run from Brianna Asmondy to give Trevecca an early lead they would not surrender.
Despite the loss, Emily Schooler delivered a strong performance in the circle, striking out nine while allowing just three hits and no earned runs over seven innings.
Christian Brothers managed three hits on the day, with Katelyn Harmon, Kate Candies, and Ashley Williamson each recording one, but the offense was unable to generate any runs.
Game 2: Christian Brothers 2, Trevecca Nazarene 1
Christian Brothers responded in game two with a hard-fought 2-1 victory.
Trevecca struck first in the third inning on an RBI single from Shay Hollingsworth, but the Buccaneers answered in the fifth. Capitalizing on a defensive error, Mandie Barrow and Kate Candies both came around to score, giving CBU a 2-1 lead.
Lily Hurley earned the win with a complete-game effort, allowing just one run on six hits while keeping Trevecca off the board the rest of the way.
Barrow led the offense with two hits, while Marin Beeson, Harmon, Abby Drabek, and Dakota Davis each added one as CBU totaled six hits in the win.
Game 3: Trevecca Nazarene 3, Christian Brothers 2
The final game of the series was tightly contested, but Trevecca Nazarene used a late surge to edge Christian Brothers 3-2.
CBU took an early lead with runs in the third and fifth innings. Marin Beeson drove in the first run with a single, and Katelyn Harmon followed with an RBI double to make it 2-0.
Trevecca responded in the sixth inning, tying the game on a two-RBI single from Brianna Asmondy. The Trojans then took the lead in the seventh on an RBI single by Bailey Goad.
Christian Brothers had opportunities late but could not push across the tying run. Harmon led the offense with three hits, while Beeson added two hits and an RBI.
Emily Schooler took the loss despite allowing just three runs on 11 hits across seven innings.
Christian Brothers showed improvement throughout the day, bouncing back in game two and competing closely in the finale, but ultimately came up just short in the series.
