Memphis, TN- Williams Baptist and Christian Brothers delivered a doubleheader full of momentum swings, clutch hits, and late-game drama, as the visitors took the opener before the home team answered with a stunning comeback in game two.
In the first game, Williams Baptist (22-9, 5-1) leaned on a decisive fourth inning to secure a 6-3 victory. After falling behind early on a solo home run, they erupted for five runs in the fourth to seize control.
Addison Fost sparked the rally with a game-tying home run, and Kaelyn Gooch followed with a two-run single to push the lead ahead. Aggressive baserunning added to the pressure, highlighted by Breann Thres stealing home. Brooke Scott capped the inning with an RBI double, giving Williams Baptist a cushion they wouldn't relinquish.
Christian Brothers (6-24-1, 2-16) answered with a two-run double from Marin Beeson in the bottom half of the inning, but that would be as close as they'd get. Taylor Young added an insurance RBI in the fifth, while pitcher Emberlin Cal went the distance, working through nine hits to earn the win.
Game two, however, flipped the script entirely.
Williams Baptist came out swinging, powered by a huge day from Kaylee Wolfe, who launched two home runs early and later added a two-run triple. A three-run blast from Taylor Youngblood helped build a 5-0 lead, and another surge in the sixth inning pushed the advantage to 9-4.
But Christian Brothers refused to fold.
A four-run fifth inning got them back in the game, and then chaos erupted in the seventh. Mandie Barrow delivered a two-run single before Kate Candies crushed a three-run homer to tie the game at 9-9, completing a furious rally.
Williams Baptist briefly regained control in the eighth when Wolfe's triple drove in two runs to make it 11-9. Yet the lead didn't last.
Christian Brothers answered one final time in the bottom half. McKenzie Shinabery knocked in a run to cut the deficit, and Katelyn Harmon delivered the decisive blow with a two-run single, walking it off for a 12-11 victory.
The split showcased two very different wins, one built on a single dominant inning, the other on relentless resilience. Together, they told the story of a doubleheader where no lead felt safe and every inning mattered.
