MEMPHIS, Tenn. – The Christian Brothers University women's soccer team opened its 2026 season at home Thursday evening, battling Harding University in a tightly contested match at Signaigo Field.
The Buccaneers and Bisons went into halftime scoreless as CBU's defense held strong throughout the opening 45 minutes. Goalkeeper Kaylee Allen helped anchor the Buccaneer defense, making a pair of first-half saves.
The match remained deadlocked until the 57th minute, when Harding capitalized on a broken-down play for the lone goal of the contest. Mykala Ulrich found the back of the net at the 56:32 mark, giving the Bisons the 1-0 advantage.
CBU continued to battle over the final 30-plus minutes but could not find the equalizer as Harding held on for the 1-0 decision.
Despite the result, the Buccaneer defense limited Harding to just five total shots and four shots on goal. Allen finished the night with three saves while playing all 90 minutes. CBU allowed just two shots in the second half.
The match marked the beginning of the 2026 campaign for the Buccaneers as they look to build on a strong defensive performance in their home opener.
