Athletics Capital Projects
Overview
As part of its current capital campaign, CBU will undertake major improvements to a number of its athletic facilities. These initiatives include construction of the Baseball/Softball Athletic Center, relocation of Bland (softball) and Nadicksbernd (baseball) Fields, and construction of on-campus tennis courts. Improvements to CBU's athletic facilities will help the university better serve its outstanding student athletes and give them an experience that rivals their in-classroom education.
Statement of Need
CBU is a NCAA Division II university with 15 sports teams serving 250 student athletes. Current campus facilities are insufficient for maintaining or growing this vibrant athletics program. The university has made a significant financial commitment to the Athletics Department in the form of scholarships, nearly doubling the number and amount of athletic scholarships available to student athletes. In order to leverage this commitment and attract the highest-quality recruits, CBU's facilities must accommodate additional student athletes and reflect the quality expected of a top-level Division II program.
Goals and Outcomes
The Athletics facility enhancements represent a major component of CBU's campus-wide upgrades. The University's commitment to scholarships and operational budgets allow Athletics to focus on making these impactful and much-needed improvements. Together, these changes will provide student athletes with facilities appropriate to a competitive Division II school. Not only will these upgrades help the university serve current student athletes, increasing retention and graduation rates, it will assist in recruiting new student athletes to take advantage of the additional athletic scholarships.
