Parks was named the baseball head coach at CBU on July 21, 2016, becoming the sixth head coach in the 52-year history of CBU baseball.
Â
Parks joined CBU after spending two seasons as an assistant coach at University of Memphis. Parks was the Tigers' infielders coach, camps coordinator and first-base coach. Prior to Memphis, Parks spent six seasons as an assistant coach at NCAA Division II Saint Leo University where he served as the recruiting coordinator, hitting coach and instructed catchers. Â
Â
"I am extremely excited to lead the Christian Brothers University baseball program," said Parks. "I want to thank Brian Summers for putting his trust in me to lead these young men. The potential to win here was an important factor, as well as the passion and vision the administration has for the athletic department and baseball program. My first order of business is to start earning the players trust and get them to establish a culture based on excellence. Â I look forward to going to work each and every day focused on the development of each player in the program and step by step build this program into the powerhouse I think it can be."
As recruiting coordinator at Saint Leo, Parks was recognized as one of the top recruiters in the southeast region and has a proven ability to identify talent. He recruited four former MLB draft picks to Saint Leo. In his six seasons, Parks coached four Sunshine State Conference (SSC) Freshmen of the Year, 15 All-SSC selections, four All-South Region selections and three NCBWA All-Americans.Â
Parks spent three years as a scout in the Texas Rangers organization prior to his time at Saint Leo, as well as some time working in the New York Yankees player development department.
Â
Prior to his professional career within collegiate and professional baseball, Parks was a four-year letterwinner at Mississippi State University. As a catcher with the Bulldogs, Parks helped MSU to the College World Series in 1998 and an SEC Conference Tournament title in 2001.
"I am extremely proud of Lee and excited for this opportunity for him," said University of Memphis baseball head coach Daron Schoenrock. "I had the opportunity to coach Lee in his senior year at Mississippi State and thoroughly enjoyed seeing the coach he has matured into in the two years he was with us at Memphis. He has the passion, knowledge, and energy necessary to be a tremendous head coach and Christian Brothers University is getting a quality man who will impact the program and the kids he coaches, everyday. He is a wonderful dad to Carson and Miller and a great husband to Amanda. Traits that will be passed on to his players. Lee is ready for this challenge and we will greatly miss him at Memphis. We wish him and Christian Brothers University the best as they move their baseball program forward."Â
Â
After finishing his undergraduate degree from Mississippi State in 2002, Parks went on to receive his MBA while working as a graduate assistant in sports marketing at MSU. After graduate school, he served as Assistant General Manager for the Outer Banks Daredevils of the Coastal Plains League summer team.
Â
Parks is married to former Amanda Ellen White and the couple has a daughter, Carson Ellen and a son, Miller.Â
