Dr. David Dietrich has served as the volunteer goalkeeper coach at CBU since 2011. During his tenure, Dietrich has coached multiple All-Gulf South Conference selections, including Britton McGuire (2012-15), who was named to the Gulf South Conference Team of the Decade.
 
Dietrich played club soccer in Memphis for the First Memphis Soccer Club Kickers, coached by Sepp Huber, who is considered one of the pioneers of soccer in Memphis. Dietrich was on multiple state champion club teams, including the U-18 Kickers team that finished 3rd in the Southeast Regionals. Dietrich played collegiately at Rhodes College, also under Coach Huber.
 
After earning a master's degree, Dietrich was named the head coach of Christian Brothers High School, leading it to its first state championship in his third and final season. While pursuing his Ph.D. in psychology, Dietrich continued his coaching career, serving as the assistant coach for the men's and women's programs at Rhodes College for three seasons. 
 
Dietrich has coached for multiple Memphis clubs, winning state championships with both boys and girls teams. Dietrich also spent three seasons as the Tennessee state staff coach in the Olympic Development Program, serving as the state goalkeeper coach for one year.  In 2000, Dietrich became a psychology faculty member at Lambuth University in Jackson, Tenn., which began a10-year tenure as the goalkeeper coach for the men's and women's teams. In 2016 and 2017 David served as the goalkeeper coach for Memphis City FC in the NPSL. 
 
In addition to his soccer endeavors, Dietrich is currently an Associate Professor at the University of Tennessee at Martin and the coordinator of the master's program in counseling.
