Lady Bucs Clamp Down in 63-48 Win

Katie Quinton scored a career-high 11 points as the Lady Bucs won 63-48 at LeMoyne-Owen Saturday night.
Box Score MEMPHIS—The Christian Brothers University Lady Bucs held host LeMoyne-Owen scoreless for over nine minutes as they pulled away for a 63-48 win Saturday night at LOC's Bruce Hall.

The Lady Bucs (5-3) found themselves tied at 17 after a 7-0 Lady Magician (1-5) run capped by a Shonice Sprouse three-pointer.  Back-to-back threes by Katie Quinton (Dresden, Tenn./Dresden HS) put the Lady Bucs in front for good, and a Ryan Herd layup with 6:18 remaining trimmed the lead back to four.

The Lady Magicians would not score again until an Ashley Mason basket with 17:01 remaining in the game.  During that 9:17 stretch, the Lady Bucs scored on a pair of Crystal Shelton (Nashville, Tenn./Hume Fogg) layups and a Tanaeya Worden (Sioux City, Iowa/Sioux City North HS) three-pointer.  Back-to-back threes by Kat Butler (Nashville, Tenn./Brentwood HS) and Worden after Mason's basket capped the 19-4 run, giving the Lady Bucs a commanding 36-21 lead.  The Lady Magicians never came closer than eight points again.

Tameka Wooten (Cordova, Tenn./Cordova HS) led the Lady Bucs with 15 points, while Quinton scored a career-high 11.  Butler grabbed a career-best 14 rebounds to go with 11 points, and Worden scored 10.

Amber Johnson led the Lady Magicians with 15 points.

For the game, LOC shot just 29 percent (18-of-62), to the Lady Bucs' 34.5 percent (20-of-58).  The Lady Bucs shot 46.2 percent (12-of-26) from three-point range compared to just 25 percent (8-of-32) inside the arc.

The Lady Bucs out-rebounded LOC 50-35, offsetting the Lady Bucs' 19-14 turnover deficit.

The Lady Bucs will return to action Saturday afternoon at 3 p.m. as they host Wesley (Miss.).
