Bulldogs Overpower Lady Bucs 83-40

Sheena DeBose scored 11 points, but the Lady Bucs lost 83-40 at Butler Monday night.
Box Score INDIANAPOLIS—Host Butler out-scored the Christian Brothers University Lady Bucs 49-14 in the second half to pull away for an 83-40 win Monday night at historic Hinkle Fieldhouse.

After a close first half where the Lady Bucs (6-5) never trailed by more than eight points, the Bulldogs (5-6) went on a 21-3 run early in the second half to take control, and they never looked back, holding the Lady Bucs to just two points over the final 10:30 as they expanded the lead throughout.

The Bulldogs' defense harrassed the Lady Bucs into 30 turnovers, including 20 in the second half.  They turned their 25 steals into a 42-12 margin in points off turnovers, while they also converted a 41-27 rebound margin into an 18-2 edge in points in the paint.

Tanaeya Worden (Sioux City, Iowa/Sioux City North HS) scored 11 of her team-high 13 points in the first half, while Sheena DeBose (Tunica, Miss./Rosa Fort HS) added 11 points and a team-high six rebounds.

Melanie Thornton led Butler with 23 points, six steals, and five rebounds.  Chloe Hamilton scored a dozen off the bench, while Lade Akande and Brittany Bowen scored 11 each.

Saturday afternoon, the Lady Bucs will make their final non-conference road trip as they take on West Alabama at 2 p.m.
